    Overview

     

    POSITION SUMMARY:

    The Default Credit Risk Underwriter underwrites loan modifications to Rushmore and Investor specifications. This position works closely with the Loss Mitigation and Default Management Department.

    Responsibilities

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Reviews and underwrites modification files to support home retention efforts and manage company risk
    • Ensure files have all required documentation
    • Follow up with borrowers to gather additional information
    • Analyze financial data and credit report in order to calculate accurate gross and net income, expenses, ratios, net disposable income, and assess borrower willingness and ability
    • Analyze transaction to ensure compliance with investor modification guidelines   
    • Submit proposed modification terms through proprietary loss mitigation system, ensure complete and accurate data
    • Timely follow up of outstanding items, confirm modifications are moving forward in pipeline within specified SLA’s
    • QC of prepared stipulation and modification agreements
    • Use of proprietary and industry standard loss mitigation systems and other standard office programs
    • Perform other duties as assigned or required

    Qualifications

    ESSENTIAL KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS:

    • Five (+) years’ experience in residential mortgage underwriting, ability to calculate income, expenses, ratios, NDI, and other standard underwriting knowledge
    • Experience reviewing self-employed income documentation, P&L’s, tax returns, bank statements
    • Superior time management skills and attention to detail
    • Ability to own a process
    • Excel reporting
    • Ability to communicate directly with borrowers

     

    EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

    • High School Diploma required
    • Bachelor’s degree preferred (Business Management or other relevant coursework)
    • Experience with origination closing documentation or modification documentation
    • Familiarity with HAMP guides, and procedures
    • NMLS Licensing
    • Servicing experience, especially delinquent assets
    • Knowledge of FDCPA regulations
    • Exceptional writing skills
    • Four (+) years’ experience in Residential Mortgage Servicing

     

    MACHINES, OFFICE EQUIPMENT & SOFTWARE:

    • PC computer with Windows operating system, facsimile, photocopier
    • Proficient with Microsoft Office applications
    • Proficiency in MSP, subject matter expert preferred
