POSITION SUMMARY:

The Audit Manager is primarily responsible for the development and execution of a comprehensive, risk-based internal audit plan and provides management meaningful and cost-effective recommendations to strengthen the Company’s risk management and operating practices. Audit Manager must quickly develop a comprehensive understanding of the business in order to provide effective risk oversight, business analysis and advisory work to management and the audit committee

Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

  • Assist the Chief Auditor with the oversight of the internal audit function and staff.
  • Plan, execute and deliver effective audits of Company operations that are risk-based, identifying opportunities to enhance risk management and operational processes, and provide meaningful recommendations to management to implement such enhancements.
  • Supervises, train and coach staff to ensure proper execution of their responsibilities and achievement of audit objectives.
  • Participates in the planning, execution and reporting phases of audits.
  • Ensures that work is performed in accordance with Internal Audit Department standards.
  • Ensures that work papers accurately reflect work performed and support conclusions reached.
  • Develops audit reports that clearly communicate audit results, exposures and findings, and will provide recommended corrective actions to management.
  • Ensures that business management and audit management are kept informed on potential issues that represent elevated risk to the company.
  • Evaluates management plans to address identified risks and tracks remediation efforts to resolution, as necessary.
  • Completes assigned work in accordance with established budgets and deadlines.
  • Process improvement projects, partnering with management to advance efficient and effective operations.
  • Participates in process change initiatives, as assigned, to provide consulting advice to management on the effective design of internal controls for the changed processes.
  • Participates in the development of the risk assessments, execution of special investigations, consulting services, and preparation of Audit Committee materials.
  • Stays abreast of current and emerging developments pertaining to the Company’s industry and internal audit practices.
  • Assists the Chief Auditor on other projects and duties as assigned.

Qualifications

ESSENTIAL KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS:

                                                                                                                                   

  • Knowledge of internal auditing standards and practices, risk management and internal control practices, and experience applying them to effectively execute assigned responsibilities.
  • Strong analytical, comprehension and problem solving skills. Able to develop and execute risk-based audit programs for complex operations.
  • Ability to assess the adequacy of policies, procedures and controls, draw sound conclusions based on the situation and data obtained, and recommend cost-effective alternatives as necessary.
  • Effectively use professional and interpersonal skills with clients, audit personnel, management and external contacts to build strong working relationships.
  • Ability to effectively communicate, both verbally and in writing with personnel at all levels of the organization.
  • Must have excellent presentation skills.
  • Detailed oriented and organized. Able to multitask and meet budgets and deadlines.
  • Demonstrates a high level of company and professional ethics.
  • Able to maintain and perform with a high degree of confidentiality.
  • Conveys a positive and professional attitude towards clients and staff members.
  • Able to work as part of a team and with minimal supervision.
  • Knowledge of mortgage origination and servicing practices preferred.
  • Knowledge/experience regarding information technology auditing practices and techniques, and data analysis tools and techniques are a plus.

 

 

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

 

  • High School Diploma required.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Management, Business Administration or Accounting preferred.
  • Minimum seven or more years of professional audit experience. Prior experience in performing audits of mortgage origination and servicing operations preferred.
  • Certified Internal Auditor, Certified Public Accountant or similar professional designations.
  • Knowledge of laws and regulations applicable to mortgage origination and servicing operations preferred.
  • Knowledge of MSP and Encompass preferred.

 

 

MACHINES, OFFICE EQUIPMENT & SOFTWARE:

 

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Applications (Excel, Visio, Access, Outlook, Word, Power Point, Etc.)
