Overview

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Loan Officer is the primary customer contact position for the origination of mortgages from a Rushmore mortgage loan call center and is responsible for presenting mortgage loan options to the customer, taking applications, answering customer questions about the process, and managing a pipeline of leads and loans in process.

Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Obtain and maintain required state licensing within the timeframe as agreed upon by management
  • Contact prospective customers from leads provided and accept inbound calls from existing customers. Explain mortgage loan options available from Rushmore to achieve their financial objectives
  • Present comparative mortgage products and programs which the customer may wish to consider and which best suit their needs
  • Sell the advantages of remaining with Rushmore for the new loan need
  • Take mortgage loan application and describe how the process will work – answer borrower questions ·
  • Collect supporting loan documentation to provide a complete package to Production Operations group
  • Follow up on outstanding items as required in support of Production Operations team
  • Maintain communication with borrower throughout the loan process as needed and with internal partners and call center management
  • Manage personal pipeline assignment to insure timely and efficient action and adherence to company lending and service standards and key dates such as rate lock expirations
  • Meet volume requirements for calls, applications and closings set out by Call Center management
  • Maintain a thorough knowledge of Rushmore lending programs, policies, procedures and regulatory requirements
  • Operate with the highest level of customer service and ethical behavior
  • Perform other duties as required

Qualifications

ESSENTIAL KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS:

  • Ability to communicate effectively and professionally with a variety of people using both written and verbal skills
  • Enjoys working with customers and demonstrates excellent interpersonal skills
  • Detail-oriented with close attention to accuracy of all information provided and gathered
  • Ability to plan, prioritize, and organize work effectively
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure and meet time deadlines
  • Working knowledge of MS Word, Outlook and loan origination software (Ellie Mae Encompass experience preferred but not required)
  • Knowledge of mortgage loan product guidelines including conventional and FHA products
  • Demonstrated understanding of mortgage loan processing, underwriting and closing procedures

 

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred
  • High School Diploma required
  • NMLS license required for states in which the loan officer will originate loans
  • 2 years recent mortgage banking sales experience

 

MACHINES, OFFICE EQUIPMENT & SOFTWARE:

  • Position requires use of loan origination software, point of sale tools, and lead management tools
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications
