The Mortgage Originations Trainer primary responsibility is to facilitate and deliver learning solutions in a manner that engages the learner and produces the desired outcomes. This position will develop, implement and deliver initial and ongoing staff training and support for Rushmore, including consumer and mortgage lending positions. The position will partner closely with Training Coordinator, business managers, Subject Matter Experts and various resources to provide high quality customized training solutions. Responsibilities will include all facets of the adult learning process. 



  • Must be proficient with curriculum development, adult education, technical writing and classroom preparation for training.
  • Conduct training for sales and operations staff, among others, on mortgage products, loan origination system, company best practices, Compliance, and all other Mortgage topics.
  • Provide onboarding training and development support for Rushmore new hires, as well as on-going training for existing employees in conjunction with our subject matter experts (“SMEs”).
  • Work with Assistant Vice President of Learning & Development to develop and maintain appropriate curriculum.
  • Ability to deal with ambiguity and offer creative solutions.
  • Utilize effective needs analysis, project management, course development, and evaluation skills when partnering with subject matter experts to develop identified training needs and appropriate method of delivery.
  • Facilitate face-to face and webinar training presentations for employees.
  • Utilize multimedia technology and authoring tools to develop effective courses.
  • Display an observable sense of urgency in the execution of daily job functions.
  • Establish and maintain department standards for material design.
  • Create media to support learning (e.g., visual aids for face-to-face, various multimedia for e-learning and online).
  • Develop assessments.
  • Maintain training deliverables such as job aids, simulations, online help, presentation decks, and web based training (WBT), etc.
  • Edit and proof courseware for quality, consistency, and adherence to standards.
  • Perform ongoing reviews of published materials and recommend revisions or changes in scope, format, and content.
  • Execute copy editing and quality assurance reviews, including reviewing for grammar, style, context, and spelling.
  • Translate complex technical content into easily readable text or tables, charts, and graphics.
  • Contribute to training process improvements and participates in other projects as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.



  • Strong research skills including gathering and analyzing data from multiple sources (subject matter experts, project managers) to develop department training materials.
  • Good working knowledge of LOS Encompass.
  • Proven technical writing and editing skills.
  • Superior command of the English language including rules and usage.
  • Strong analytical, planning, organizational, and time management skills.
  • Strong research skills including gathering and analyzing data from multiple sources (subject matter experts, project managers) to develop department training materials.
  • Superb interpersonal communication skills, particularly where technical information must be conveyed in a clear and convincing way.
  • Ability to meet aggressive deadlines.
  • Proficient computer skills, especially Microsoft Office applications.
  • Ability to function effectively as part of a team.
  • Ability to maintain discretion and confidentiality. 



  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred; Advanced degree or related studies.
  • High School Diploma required.
  • Three to five years of progressive loan origination/operations experience.
  • Minimum of two years instructional design, curriculum development, adult education, technical writing and/or editing experience.
  • Experience in creating business processes and procedures.
  • Ability to work independently and proactively.



  • Proficient with Windows-based PC.
  • Proficient in Mortgage LOS (preferably Encompass) and related systems.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Excel, MS Word, PowerPoint).
  • Experience in eLearning course authoring tools, such as Adobe Captivate preferred.
  • Experience in video production and knowledge of audio/video editing software preferred.
