Overview

 

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Asset Resolution Specialist works with borrowers whose loans have been placed into foreclosure as well as borrowers seeking assistance to avoid foreclosure. Will work an assigned portfolio of loans with a primary goal of bringing about a satisfactory resolution of the default, in the shortest time frame or until the foreclosure process is concluded. Also works with other departments as required including foreclosure, escrow administration, property preservation and appraisals to name a few. Must be self-motivated, goal oriented, a good communicator, able to handle multiple tasks and above all a team player.  

Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

  • Handle incoming and outgoing calls to and from borrowers, realtors, attorneys, insurance agents and other 3rd party entities on defaulted loans, including internal customers from other departments/business units.
  • Evaluating low valued assets and provide best course of action or exit strategy.
  • Ability to evaluate real estate valuations (appraisals, BPO’s) and good understanding of real estate market trends and site demographics.
  • Negotiating Short Payoff and or Insurance Claims Settlements
  • Identifying high risk assets that should be written off.
  • Requesting property inspections and contractor repair bids as may be applicable during our normal course of business.
  • Requesting BPO’s/Appraisals as applicable as well as reviewing asset condition and value
  • Requesting payoff /reinstatement figures as applicable.
  • Must develop a good understanding of the loss mitigation departments’ policies and procedures.
  • Must develop a good understanding and working knowledge of various computer-based programs and common business software.
  • Escalating calls to the appropriate managers as may be applicable.
  • Communicate detailed posting instructions to the Cashiering Department as to how funds received should be applied to a loan.
  • Communicate any issues or concerns to our Escrow Administration Department with regards to a borrower’s taxes or insurance and/or Hazard Claim issues that may arise during normal course of business.
  • Must develop a good working knowledge of the various departments within Servicing Administration in order to better serve internal and external customers.
  • Maintain the data integrity of loans assigned to Asset Resolution Specialist and to their fellow associates within the Rushmore Loan Management Services family.
  • Handle additional duties as they may be assigned within the scope of the department or this job description.
  • Assist the Escrow Administration Department as applicable with insurance claims and/or settlements between the borrowers, 3rd parties and Rushmore Loan Management Services.
  • Coordinate with the Escrow Administration Department for the proper distribution of insurance hazard claim funds received to insure RLMS collateral interest in a property.
  • Perform other duties or projects as requested by manager.

Qualifications

 

 ESSENTIAL KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS:

  • Excellent verbal and written skills, including ability to write clearly, concisely, and logically
  • Very strong organizational skills
  • Strong knowledge of Federal and state laws applicable to mortgage servicing, including licensing
  • Knowledge of Freddie Mac, Fannie Mae and FHA loans
  • Knowledge of Mortgage Insurance
  • Technical understanding of loan servicing
  • Ability to work well with all levels of management and staff
  • Ability to set goals and meet deadlines
  • Ability to supervise staff when needed
  • Strong knowledge of Rushmore policies, procedures and processes

 

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • Three (+) years Minimum as a Loss Mitigator with an established mortgage banking organization.
  • Two (+) years of experience as a Negotiator with an established mortgage banking organization.  

 

MACHINES, OFFICE EQUIPMENT & SOFTWARE:

  • PC computer with Windows operating system, facsimile, photocopier.
  • Proficient in MS.
  • Fidelity MSP.
  • Familiarity and working knowledge of databases and corporate loan servicing systems.
