Overview

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Vice President of Consumer Direct Operations is responsible for day to day operations management of a highly efficient and productive originations department.

 

Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

Management

  • Oversee underwriting and funding teams
  • Provide direction on loan production in order to positively impact the set business objectives
  • Track employee FHA certifications
  • Promote a positive and professional work environment
  • Recruit, hire, train, mentor, manage and develop direct reports
  • Monitor and evaluate direct report team and provide performance management, coaching, counseling and remediation as required
  • Establish objectives, expected results and development plans for employees

 

Customer Service

  • Demonstrate professionalism and integrity in all actions and behaviors
  • Create and enforce a high standard of customer service / SLA’s
  • Provide customer service to internal and external customers in accordance with levels and expectations consistent with company standards.
  • Contribute to Underwriting duties when needed by signing off on conditions and providing direction on processing of all loan types.

Quality and Compliance

  • Implement first line of defense checks
  • Maintain record of valid state examinations
  • Partner with compliance team to ensure CFPB requirements are met
  • Audit team to ensure disclosers are properly communicated
  • Maintain and build consistent policies, procedures and processes to support direct to consumer lender requirements.
  • Remain current on company requirements/federal and state regulations to ensure quality and compliance
  • Ensure that quality is embedded in all products, services and processes in accordance with company requirements
  • Establish procedures and policies in accordance with company standards and maintain employee adherence to such
  • Ensure the loan origination and closing process complies with internal policies and procedures while upholding external, federal, state, investor rules, requirements and regulations
  • Ensure the loan process operates efficiently and effectively and timely while maintaining company service and quality standards
  • Oversee all loan origination systems and processes to ensure all activities are in line with company ethics and compliance standards.

 

Strategy

  • Develop and implement strategies and tactics to refine the process to support corporate growth and goals
  • Identify strategic opportunities to enhance systems and processes through utilization/optimization of technology
  • Manage various initiatives: FHA, Dakota, Purchase, Trid 2.0, New 1003 and HMDA
  • Contribute to offshore initiatives including implementation
  • Ensure all related production activity and reporting get done correctly and on time
  • Report operating results to senior management
  • Maintain clear and consistent line of communication
  • Coordinate with other areas outside of direct report line such as sales, technology, compliance, risk, post closing, valuations and finance
  • Manage and oversee expenses and profitability
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications

ESSENTIAL KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS:

  • Proven ability to lead internal teams with excellent management, planning, and problem-solving skills
  • Proven ability to manage and deliver against expectations for senior management
  • Demonstrated ability to successfully work in, deliver results and iterate quickly in a large organization
  • Excellent leadership and communication skills

 

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

 

  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university.
  • Minimum 10 years mortgage origination experience.
  • Working knowledge of Underwriting, Funding, Docs and Loan Setup.
  • Strong analytic, root cause identification, problem solving and decision making abilities.
  • Ability to design workflows and make adjustments based on volume.
  • Detail-oriented, enjoy working with complex projects, and have excellent multi-tasking skills.
  • Commitment to task; ability to start and persist with specific courses of action while exhibiting. high motivation and a sense of urgency.
  • Strong organizational skills with proven ability to independently prioritize activities.
  • Strong leadership ability to influence the actions and opinions of others; to exhibit judgment in leading others to desired objectives.
  • Proven ability to develop strong working relationships and establish a high level of credibility across functional lines of business and organizational levels.
  • Understand financial realities of the business and know how to operate within a budget.
  • Technical knowledge to oversee operations and related loan origination systems etc.
